Every sewer line has an expiration date. If the pipe joining your home to the public sewer line is 40 years or older, it’s end date is probably sooner than later.
For some Portland homeowners, the idea of sewer line replacement causes stress, if not outright fear. There’s the unwelcome prospect of the dirt and mess. Beyond that, there’s the sorrow of tearing out and replacing landscaping. For those who live in historic neighborhoods with old trees, excavation can be particularly unwelcome.
To get around the destruction caused by digging, homeowners should consider trenchless sewer line repair. Trenchless technologies have been around for decades. They came into wider use for residential plumbing about 15 years ago. Apollo offers both cured-in-place (CIPP) sewer repair and pipe bursting. We’ll come back to these techniques in a bit.
Sewer line repair gets expensive. The cost of traditional sewer repair can multiply when pipes run beneath landscaping and hardscaping. In those cases, taking out your yard’s features and rebuilding them will cost a pretty penny.
You can avoid destruction and disruption with trenchless sewer repair. Dismantling and redoing landscapes and other structures are the biggest expense and headache of traditional sewer repair.
We have two no-dig methods to repair your sewer line: CIPP and pipe bursting. We complete CIPP repairs with no excavation. Pipe bursting requires limited digging. Both methods are becoming more popular with our customers, but many people aren’t aware of these trenchless techniques.
Here’s an overview:
CIPP: Apollo uses this technology to repair a damaged pipe. The technician reaches the pipe through an open access A flexible tube or lining is blown or pulled into the old pipe. The liner material, which is covered with resin, is inflated. It hardens into place when the resin cures.
Pipe Bursting: We use this technique to replace a pipe. A technician uses specialized machinery to insert a new pipe while simultaneously fracturing the old one. We need to make an entry and exit hole to install the new pipe.
We can make either CIPP and pipe bursting repairs in less than a day. Both techniques are long-lasting and safe for the environment. We choose the method that’s best for the situation. In some cases, traditional sewer replacement with excavation may still be the best solution. But, whenever possible, we recommend trenchless sewer line repair for convenience and affordability.

Apollo jetted the basement drain line in our old 1927 Portland house. The line has been backing up thru the floor drain for a while. The technician cleared out the line with the hydro-jet, and it’s running great now. On-time and professional!"
