Attention Portland Commuters!
If you take the I-84: Graham Road Bridges to and from work, ODOT has begun constructing their project to replace the aging bridges over Graham Road near downtown Troutdale. This construction will continue through 2020, and I-84 travelers will be required to use a temporary bridge while the construction is being completed.
At Apollo Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc., it is our priority to keep you in the know. The existing bridges over Graham Road were old, deteriorated structures that needed repair. In addition, they limited safe transportation for larger vehicles. ODOT’s project will replace the bridges to widen the road to three lanes and provide safe transportation for large trucks as well as allow walkers and bikers to travel under the bridges.
Be Careful of Closures and Detours
Construction will take place throughout the day and night which will require periodic closures and detours of I-84, Exit 17 ramps, and Graham Road. Not only will these construction impact drivers, but it will also impact individuals who ride bicycles or walk. The nighttime work will involve bright lights and noisy activities including drilling, cutting, and moving construction equipment. If you are concerned about the noise, you can contact the 24⁄7 noise hotline at (503) 395-0256.
Construction Timeline
While the construction of this project will impact your commute, it will provide individuals with safer transportation in the future. The schedule for the construction is as follows:
- Start: February 2019
- Westbound I-84 Bridge Complete: Fall 2019
- Eastbound I-84 Bridge Complete: Summer 2020
- Graham Road Improvements: Fall 2020
- Estimated Completion: Winter 2020
As always, be careful when driving or traveling through construction zones and look for flaggers and changes in traffic patterns. At Apollo Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc., we care about the members of our community.
