For over 20 years, Apollo Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning has been a proud provider of environmentally friendly solutions for solving problems that home and business owners face in Oregon and Washington. This emphasis on preserving the environment with non-invasive services allows us to conduct repairs more quickly as well.

CIPP Environmentally Friendly Pipe Repair

Cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) lining is an eco-friendly repair method because it allows pipes to be rehabilitated and repaired from the inside without creating excessive disruption. This is made possible through the flexible liner that is inserted into the faulty pipe through an established entry point, such as a cleanout or small hole that our experts will strategically dig to be minimally invasive and prevent needless property damage.

CIPP Environmentally Friendly Pipe Repair

The liner that is inserted into the pipe has an epoxy resin coating on its exterior, and after it is inflated with an artificial mechanism, it expands and fits inside the old pipe. The pressure forces the epoxy resin coating the flexible liner to be applied to the interior of the pipe, fully covering corrosion and filling any cracks or leaks in the system. After several hours, the epoxy resin will completely cure and act as the new liner in its hardened state.

Trenchless, No-Dig Repairs Versus Traditional, Dig-And-Replace Methods

Trenchless, No-Dig Repairs Versus Traditional, Dig-And-Replace MethodsBy having repairs take place inside of the old pipe, our cured-in-place pipe lining methods won’t damage sensitive land or historically important properties, making it a reliable solution to address a wide array of problems.

This is a far cry from traditional repair methods that require the pipeline system to be plowed out of the ground and manually replaced, a process that could take weeks and require homeowners to relocate during that time. The large equipment and machinery also proved to be destructive, tearing up streets and blocking access to businesses, and inconveniencing residents. In addition, traditional repairs created excess waste that needed to be disposed of in landfills, and the trenches, while refilled with the dirt, were still largely visible on properties, forcing property owners to need to budget for additional landscaping and remediation costs following already expensive repairs.

While excavation was the standard method of repairs, cured-in-place pipelining, and other no-dig, trenchless-based options provide better, more flexible alternatives that meet the needs of customers and residents in the community.

The Benefits of CIPP Lining on The Environment & Older Pipeline Systems

Because many pipes travel through or near areas such as wetlands, woodlands, and wildlife preserves, it’s important to keep these areas unaffected by the infrastructures of modern life. When pipes experience problems, our team at Apollo Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning takes the time to repair them without upheaving these ecosystems. Since our CIPP lining process only requires one or two access points, such as a cleanout or manhole, we can ensure that extra, deep digging isn’t required to finish our work effectively.

In addition, the epoxy resin that we install into damaged pipes is safe, both for the environment and for the pipe itself.

The material created has the durability equivalent to PVC pipes, ensuring that they will withstand common problems such as:
  • Corrosion
  • Tree root invasions through the joints
  • Cracks
  • Leaks
  • Pipeline collapses
  • Shifts in the soil

Older plumbing systems used materials that have proven unstable and toxic. For instance, galvanized pipes and lead solder are known hazards. Many municipalities have replaced these types of pipes, though some older homes in the area may still contain dangerous materials. When we install a new, cured-in-place pipe, it creates a barrier between the toxins found in the old pipes and the water flow, sealing away the potential health risks and offering a new, more reliable solution.

Our cured-in-place pipe lining solutions, while incredibly effective and beneficial on their own, are supplemented with the assistance of our high-quality, Perma-Main Top Gun equipment.
